The safe area is the area close to the trim marks. There is always a small amount of movement during digital printing and finishing, so we ask that all text and important information is kept 3mm away from the trim marks. This ensures that nothing is accidentally trimmed off.

Our digital presses print using CMYK toners, so it is recommended that you supply your artwork in the same colours. Any artwork supplied in a different colour format, such as RGB or Pantone, will be converted to CMYK for printing.

RGB is the colour gamut used to display digital images on a computer screen; the letters RGB stand for Red, Green and Blue. CMYK is the colour gamut used for conventional printing and is an abbreviation for Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Black.
You can ensure your product colours are consistent by changing them to CMYK before your file goes to print. Still have questions? Ask a member of our team.

The most common formats are PDF, EPS and jpeg. Don’t panic if you can’t convert your files; just send us what you have in Word, Publisher, Illustrator etc. and we’ll convert it to PDF. If you send us a PDF, we’ll check the file to make sure it’ll print well, then send it straight off to print.

Please Note: File conversion is a chargeable service.

Payment is made online when your order is placed.  If you place your order over the telephone with us, we can accept payment by debit or credit card (a 2.5% surcharge will be applied to all credit card transactions).

In the unlikely event that your finished job does not meet your expectations, contact us and we will work to resolve this with you as swiftly as possible.

Of course – we can send the printed products in unmarked boxes with no Edinburgh Printing branded material.  Just tick the ‘Anonymous Delivery’ box at checkout. Please note that any local deliveries will still be delivered by a branded van and all courier deliveries will show the senders details, collection can be arranged by the client to avoid this.

We understand that sometimes things are needed yesterday and we’ll pull out all the stops to help you – often at our usual rate. The entire Edinburgh Printing team is cross-trained, which helps us to meet urgent requests. However, in some instances, there may be a small premium for alternative methods required to complete your order within your deadline.

When you want something printed, you usually want it fast. With a large number of our products we aim for a turnaround of 48-72 hours but this can vary depending on what you order and the quantities you require. Call us on 0131 226 2913 to chat things through.

You are welcome to collect your job from our Edinburgh Printing office at 38 Jane Street or alternatively we can deliver your job for free if you are based locally (terms and conditions apply).

A standard courier based delivery service is available for all our products on the site which will be charged by tariff required and total consignment weight.

VAT rules for printed products are very varied and some types of printing are subject to VAT dependent on the content of the artwork being printed on them, whereas others are zero rated (no VAT is payable).  For example, a leaflet is normally zero rated, however if the artwork being printed onto it contains a form, or a voucher offering money off then the item becomes standard rated, and VAT will be charged on it.

Some online print providers do outsource orders, however we print everything ourselves at our premises in Edinburgh & Aberdeen.

Lamination is a very thin coating applied to the printed sheets. This gives the items a more tactile feel and increased durability. We can matt or gloss laminate various items and have prices for this on the product pages.
